Stop Giving Air Time To The Wrong People
Disgraced politicians, troubled actors and actresses, bad boy (or girl) musicians, sports figures in trouble with the law or cheating with performance enhancing drugs, criminals doing horrific things, and on and on. No names need to be mentioned as we all know who they are. Why does the media continue to give them air time??? Perhaps what should be done is to banish them from the airwaves. Stop giving them what they want.
I don't understand why there is such an obsession with those who do the wrong thing. And when the media "interviews" them they either lie and/or ask for sympathy, and figure that they should be absolved of the wrongdoing because they said they are sorry. After a while people become numb to these reports. It is time we come together and say no more. Perhaps we should boycott the media stations that choose to carry these interviews or report on the stories over and over again.
I know that there are many others like me, who want to see the media portray the multitude of great people out there for our children to look up to. The ones who do the right thing, the ones who spend their lives trying to help others. We know there are thousands and thousands in communities all across the country who are leading with a positive message. Parents, teachers, policemen, firefighters, community leaders, and coaches to start with. And yes - there are many professional sports figures that are giving back and portraying a good image for our children to emulate. These are the ones the media should show each and every day.
We need to teach them that doing the right thing and giving back is the way to live their lives. Giving them a positive message is a priceless gift. Time for us to challenge the media to do the right thing for the future of our children. Maybe if we turn off our television and refuse to watch they might just get the message.
