Keep Life Simple
If I could give advice to the young people today it would be to keep life simple. Over the years we have moved further and further away from this as each generation has tried to give their children more and make life "easier" or so we think. Unfortunately this easier life may have created more problems. Sometimes when you have more, you spend far too much time running on the proverbial treadmill to try and keep it all.
Looking back over the years, I know there were times when I felt that I wanted more than what I had. Felt that by having more my life would be more complete and I would be happier. After all - isn't that what we were told - the more we had the happier we would be? Nobody ever said that all of these things can come at too big a cost. That by trying to hang onto it all we lose the connection with our families that is so important. You can't spend most of your time working and think you can maintain the close family relationships that nurture your soul.
If I could go back to the times I convinced myself I needed a new car, new clothes, new furniture, things for my children, and so much more, I would change a lot of my decisions. When I think of the money spent on "stuff" that really did not matter it is a loss. Loss of time I could have spent with my children. Without all the "stuff" I might have been able to work less, and given them more of me. I also would not have spent so much time trying to be both "Super Mom" and working woman, and being exhausted more often than not.
So my advice is to really think about what is important in life. It is not all the things that you can buy, but the time you give to your children and family. Time is a priceless gift and the payback is unbelievable. Remember to keep life simple.
