Finding and Embracing Our Purpose
Most of us believe our purpose has to do with what we become - what we do for work. This is a very small piece of the bigger picture. We spend a good share of our life trying to become what we think we should be. Taking steps to do what we believe will lead us to that final destination, and finding that for each step forward there are two back. Wondering why it is such a struggle trying to get there.
If we took the time to reflect and look at the big picture we would see the times throughout our life when everything seemed right. When we were comfortable and at peace with what we were doing, and it all fit perfectly. We would also realize all the times we were fighting our purpose. During these times our world was out of sync and we felt unsettled.
I have spent much of my life pushing uphill as they say, and feeling that nothing fit. It has taken many years to come to the realization of what my purpose has been all along. Getting there has not been easy as I kept struggling and refusing to see what was in front of me. When I was feeling unsettled more and more, it forced me to reflect on what felt right - what fit. The times I felt at peace with who I am.
For me it is helping others - family and friends. Whether it is just listening when they need someone to do so, doing a small kind gesture, or helping in time of need, these are the times I feel good. This is my purpose, and there are times I still forget. The unsettled times linger more often than I would like, but only because I don't have enough time to serve my purpose with my entire heart and soul. This is when I have to stop and take a breath to refocus.
Finding your purpose takes time and a lot of soul searching. If you can be still long enough to hear your inner voice it will become crystal clear. Accepting and embracing it, and then making it work for you will not be quick or easy, but in the end will be more rewarding than you can imagine.
May you all find your purpose to bring peace and contentment to your life.
