Alone In A Crowd

At times there can be peace and solitude in the midst of a crowded room. If the people in that room are strangers that have no connection to you, then there are no expectations. And if there are no expectations then there is great freedom. You will hear chatter from every direction, but not really listen because there is no need to. It is not "your" noise to let take over your thoughts.

Moments like this allow the mind to go where it needs to be. Perhaps to sort through issues that have been weighing on you, so you can choose to act on them or let them go. Thinking of family and friends, bringing forth visions that let you relive prior life events. Getting lost in the warmth of the memories and forgetting everything else.

Maybe it will be daydreaming of beautiful places you hope to go and see at some point in your life. To stand on ground where history was made, or where almost no person has ever been before. To feel something you have never felt which awakens your spirit, and to hear sounds carried through the wind into your soul.

And perhaps it will give you the freedom to let your creativity take control. Write that book or short story you have had in the back of your mind for longer than you can remember. To publish and share or only to have for yourself as an outlet for your deepest thoughts and feelings. A release of all that you have held in for so long.

Sometimes silence can be deafening to the point where your thoughts become trapped. The constant din of muffled conversations can be just the thing to release them.

I will cherish these rare moments of being alone in a crowd, and take solace in the peace, solitude and freedom that it allows.
