Searching for Energy

With all the things I have accomplished, it seems more recently that I often feel tired. Even though I have plans to do many things, the energy is not there. As I reflected on this, I was puzzled as to the reason why. I work out on a regular basis, have a healthy diet for the most part, and a good life with wonderful family and friends. There are no health issues and no medications to impact how I feel.

What I have finally come to realize is that for more than a year we have all been bombarded with negative messages on a daily basis. Whether it is the nightly news or social media, the negative seems to be front and center, with no end in sight. It's no wonder that people are feeling exhausted. It zaps you both emotionally and physically. And if we allow it to continue then our lives will not improve.

I have decided to remove this from my life as much as possible. We all know what pushes our buttons and zaps our strength. These are a few of the steps I have chosen to take:
  1. When watching the news I leave the room when they start showing clips of people spewing negativity.
  2. We all have "friends" on social media who get caught up in spreading false, negative and insulting things. I no longer look at their posts.
  3. At social gatherings, if I encounter conversations where someone is being argumentative or saying something negative about someone they don't support, I leave the room. I attend to enjoy myself and will find positive energy to ensure this.
I know that there are others who have been feeling this same sense of tiredness. I hear it in many of my conversations. It's not good for us or for our families.

I believe if we all choose to turn away from the negative we are being shown then they might get the message. Perhaps then they will help turn the tide by seeking out the positive things being done every day. If they look, it will be easy to see the multitude of good in every community.

Positive energy spreads even more quickly and easily than negative. We all have an obligation to help make this happen. To ensure strong social connections in our communities. If we do, then we won't have to go searching for our energy.
