Recharge Your Mind, Body & Soul

I love spending time with family and friends, and wouldn't give it up for a million dollars. Getting together with wonderful people, having fun and connecting face-to-face is very important. It enables you to feel a part of something bigger and makes for a well-rounded life.

However, I can always tell when too much time has been spent on the run. The smallest thing can seem like a major task - one more thing that I just can't bear to take on. It could be something as simple as having to set up the coffee maker for the next day. I feel my body tense up and I just want to run away. I know that may sound extreme to some, but I'm sure that there are others who can relate to this.

We all need to turn off once in a while. Even a few minutes will help temporarily. But the truth is, we need to allow some down time where we turn off the phones, TV's and other distractions, and even go off by ourselves if we can. There is something to be said for complete silence where you can hear yourself think, or even just listen to the sounds of nature. No other human voice to enter into your thoughts and distract you.

Years ago it was much easier to do this. When we were outside we didn't have phones to interrupt, and TV was limited so we didn't spend as much time watching it. It certainly made for a less hectic life. Not that people weren't stressed, but it was different than today.

Anyway, we have been on the run quite a bit through the summer and fall, and my body and mind are telling me it's time to stop. My stress relievers are the things I can bury my hands into and let my mind rest. Something that makes my body tired, but in a good way. With any luck I will work in my flower bed this coming weekend to take out the old, and prepare for some new things in the spring. It will be quiet as the lake activity has ended for another season. The hard work and peacefulness will ease the stress and clear the mind. Recharging me so I am ready to once again dive into fun times with family and friends.

Take time to find what eases your stress and clears your mind. You will be glad you did.
