Bringing America Back
It is time to bring America back to the strong, vibrant country it was in the past - what it should be now. Time for all of us to have pride in our country.
I recently watched an episode of 60 Minutes, and they revisited Florida where they say 1/4 of all homeless Americans are living. The families they featured were proud and strong, and all they wanted was a job so they could support their families. They were not looking for handouts - just work. Mothers and fathers who tried not to let their children see them cry as they wondered how they were going to feed them. Hoping that where they were parked for the night was safe. One father sitting watch on a cooler outside the car all night. They live in these vehicles as shelters are filled to capacity.
Their children were wise beyond their years, attending school even though they were living out of a vehicle. Striving to get the best grades they could so they would be able to attend college. One young girl is planning on becoming an attorney so she can help children. She commented on how she felt bad for the other kids she sees who are homeless and wonders what she can do for them. This even when she has so little herself. This young woman is truly a hero.
We, as a country, should be ashamed that we are rushing to help other countries when we do not even have enough work for our own citizens. So many of the unemployed would be thrilled to have the opportunity to work again and support themselves and their families. There are many wonderful companies in the U.S. that provide jobs here, but too many that have moved jobs overseas. It is time that they invest in their own country more. Give Americans the opportunity to work, provide for their families and contribute to this country to bring it back to the America that we can be proud of. How can we provide help in other countries when we cannot even bring ourselves to the level of financial stability that we should have at home? A strong, vibrant America can help others. A financially devastated America cannot.
