Choices

All humans are born with free will which gives them the right to say, think and do what they choose; however, all of these decisions carry consequences and are linked to our concepts of responsibility, praise, guilt, and sin. Philosophy and religion have debated for years whether free will exists or not.

Throughout our lives we are faced with life events and situations which require us to make choices. The choice we decide to make in these circumstances will alter the path our lives take, and in the process can temporarily, or permanently, alter our destiny.

Many things have an impact on our choices, some within our control and others not. The people in our lives at a given time, or events impacting us, will have a huge role in what we decide to do. What may be the "right" choice for us could be something we are not ready for so we choose to stay in what we may see as a safe place at that moment. It can also be that our current responsibilities compel us to continue with the status quo.

Some people believe that our fate, destiny or future is predestined from the day we are born. Even if this is true, we will still be faced with decisions along that journey. Some of the road blocks that are put in our path may be a test of our determination to reach our destiny, or they may be something we need to experience to gain strength and wisdom. If the road to our final destiny was smooth sailing we truly would not have lived a very interesting or challenging life.

There are times we will make choices and things will go wrong. When faced with the outcome we can either take responsibility and move forward or blame our misfortune on others. It may be easier to take the latter path, however that decision could lead us to choosing incorrectly in the future.

Whether you believe that our destiny is predetermined or not, we will all have our free will tested often during our lifetime. When the time comes to make a choice remember that one good decision could put us on a trajectory to even better choices in the future, leading us to our final destiny.
