Coffee and Dessert - Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
Whenever I want a quick, easy dessert recipe I know I can rely on Betty Crocker. This decadently chocolate dessert is made with ingredients that are normally in any baker's cupboard. You can whip this up, throw it in the oven, and have a guest worthy dessert in less than an hour. Serve with vanilla ice cream for a treat everyone will love.
Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
Makes 9 servings
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1-3/4 cups hottest tap water
Ice cream
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, the baking powder and salt in ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Mix in milk, oil and vanilla with fork until smooth. Stir in nuts. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Pour hot water over batter.
2. Bake 40 minutes. While warm, spoon into dessert dishes and top with ice cream. Spoon sauce from pan onto each serving.
