Coffee and Dessert - Czech Ginger Bread

I love the smell of cinnamon and ginger wafting through the air when things are baking. A couple of years ago a friend of mine brought her Czech Ginger Bread to a gathering and it was delicious. She was kind enough to share her recipe at the time. Today as I was looking for something different to bake I found the recipe and decided the time to try it was long overdue. It is very easy to make and the house smells amazing! If you are a ginger bread lover then you must try this one.

Czech Ginger Bread

2-2/3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons ginger
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
2 eggs
4 tablespoons honey

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease 8 x 8 baking dish.

Mix dry ingredients first; cut in butter.

Mix honey and eggs then add to dry mix. It will appear too dry at first, but it's not.

Put in baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out almost clean and the bread is golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Serve with whipped cream.
