What Will You Say?

When the time comes for you to meet your maker, what will you have to say? Will you be able to say that you always strived to do what is right and noble; that you tried to leave the world a better place than you found it?

Have you treated others with kindness, compassion and understanding? Were you quick to criticize, or did you keep in mind not to judge others when you have not walked in their shoes?

Did you find ways to help those less fortunate than you? Did you give more than you took? Did you share when you had more than you needed?

Were you generous with praise for the good others did? Were you humble about the things that you did; never bragging or saying, “look at me”?

Did you do good deeds when the opportunity arose to do so? Did you offer assistance when you saw others struggle without looking for anything in return?

Were you a contributing member of your community? Did you strive to right wrongs even when it may have been difficult to do so?

Did you stand up to those who tried to perpetuate lies and divide rather than unite? Were you there to protect human rights and try to bring the world together as a global community?

Did you try to approach life with good intentions each day? If you stumbled in your attempts, did you forgive yourself and try to do better moving forward? Even if we are not always successful, we do have another opportunity to make it right.

Did you do random acts of kindness, or take the time to compliment a stranger just to bring a smile to their face?

We are all born with good in our hearts. Sometimes, along life's journey we encounter circumstances that can make it difficult for us to be the best that we can be. However, in the end, we all must answer for how we chose to live our lives. Perhaps we should be asking ourselves many of these questions now. In doing so, it may give us the opportunity to strive to do better with the time we have here on earth.
