Live Your Own Life
Are you living your own life or are you watching someone else live theirs?
It's no wonder people tend to feel depressed more often today. If they are watching television or constantly scanning social media, and comparing their life to what is being presented, then it can quickly bring them down.
The first thing they need to realize is what people put out there more than likely is not reality. Nobody has a life that is picture perfect, but they want others to believe they do. It may make them feel better or more important, however in the process they are contributing to making others feel like their life is less than it should be.

If you are asking yourself questions like:
- Why can't I look that beautiful?
- Why aren't my children that talented and well-behaved?
- Why don't I have such a great home, job or relationship?
You need to stop! Stop comparing your life to the unrealistic images you are seeing. Although they say perception is reality, the reality is far from what they project. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
If you want to feel better about your life, then start living it. Look at everything and everyone you have and be grateful. So, you don't live in a big new home; be glad you don't have to clean it or pay the mortgage that goes with it. No brand new car? Be thankful for the one you do have that doesn't come with a huge car payment. Don't go out to eat all the time? Give thanks for the food on the table that you are able to provide.
It must be exhausting to keep up an image of perfection that is not real. The staged photos and fake smiles; all to make others think they have a life that should be envied. I'm not sure if it's to make themselves feel important, to make others feel bad, or both.
If you are spending your time living vicariously through someone else, then you are missing out on so much. Live your life, savor each moment, gather memories to cherish, laugh often, love much, and spend as much time as possible with family and friends.
Do all of these things, and you will soon find that there is no time to waste watching someone else's life; you will be too busy living yours.
