Thankful

Thankful: expressing gratitude.

Daily routine, world events, and unexpected personal trials and tribulations sometimes make it difficult to give thanks.  Although we may want to remain positive, it may be easier to follow the path of least resistance and sink into a pool of negative thoughts. 

We all have faced troubles and tragedies throughout our lives, and it could be very easy to dwell on these. Some days it seems impossible to lift ourselves out from under the weight placed on us from difficult times. However, this is not a place we want to stay for too long.

Every once in a while, we need to find the strength to push away the dark cloud hanging over us. Permitting the winds of our emotions to blow all of it out of our mind clears the way for a more positive reflection of our life. If we allow ourselves to sit in peace and look back at all that has transpired over the many years we have traveled, the bright and positive memories will far outweigh the troubled times. 

Along this emotional journey we will relive difficult times and suffer the same pain as in the past - this is inevitable. Even though the pain may soften, it will not disappear. But the joy of all the good times remembered will fill our hearts with light and replace the negative with gratitude.

Thankfulness, even though we may be thankful for so much in our lives, we often forget to express this to those we love. When we take the time and effort to be grateful for even the simplest things, we will live a life filled with gratitude. This gratitude will lead us to being more thankful every day.

There will always be tough times that we must endure. However, if we carry good memories to ease the difficult times, they will not seem so unbearable. Amidst the trials and tribulations always remember to be thankful for all that is good.
