Strength

This year has been difficult for everyone as we have struggled with the pandemic. Although strides are being made for solutions there is a long way to go before we will see an end. Even the toughest of us have felt near the breaking point at times.

Unfortunately for many people, the pandemic is not the only burden they carry. As the last several months have passed by many have been faced with personal dilemmas that others may not be aware of.

We all know someone who has lost their job due to the pandemic. What we may not know is how many of these people live with the fear of not being able to feed their family, or possibly ending up homeless if they cannot pay their mortgage or rent. They try to hide their anxiety from family members to maintain a sense of normalcy and security.

Many others have received medical dianoses that have turned their world upside down. As they come to terms with this and any treatments they must have, they also live in fear of contracting a virus that could easily end their life in their weakened condition. They try to isolate themselves for safety, and in the process, they are isolated from family and friends.

In these situations, and many others people are struggling with, we look for strength from within ourselves. So often we do not reach out for support in difficult times; we do not want to burden others or appear weak. It also may be the fear that if we open up at all, then the wall we have built to hold ourselves up will crumble quickly and we will be vulnerable.

We all have worries in our lives and are busy with daily routine. However, if we knew we could ease the burden for a family member or friend we would do so in a heartbeat. Sometimes being able to help another brightens our day.

We are all afraid to ask for help because we do not want to put our load onto others. What we need to remember is that there will be times we must take strength from others, and times we will be their strength.

When we are searching for strength we usually do not need to look far; our saviors are very near. We just need to let them in.
