Accept Where You Are

Our lives are not always what we want them to be, or as we had ever envisioned. We make plans with our hopes and dreams in mind; always thinking that if we are meticulous with our planning, and then stick to that plan, then everything will be as we wish. However, as we all know, things don't always go according to plan. There is an expression about "the best laid plans" which basically states, no matter how carefully we plan, something may still go wrong.

There are times we are our own worst enemy. Somehow, we find a way to sabotage our dreams and perhaps some of that is out of fear. If we come up with reasons why we can't do something, then we don't have to deal with the possibility of failure. What we forget is that sometimes we need to fail in order to succeed.

It can be extremely difficult to accept our lives when it seems that so many things are not going right. Even the smallest glitch in the day can be overwhelming and make us freeze and not move forward. Inaction can feel much safer than making a decision; there is no risk involved.

Wherever we are in our lives, we need to accept it and make peace with it; it's exactly where we are supposed to be at that moment. See the good that is there every day and rejoice in it, but also look at what needs to change to move forward; then find ways to do just that. Remember that our plans are subject to change depending on life circumstances.

If we can't see that what is right in front of us is part of the bigger plan for our life, then we will never find a clear path to move forward. Each detour along the way makes for a fuller and richer life and gives us more experience and knowledge. Even when we don't understand why we hit road blocks along our path, we need to accept that maneuvering around them will eventually lead us exactly where we want to be. In the process we can't lose sight of our hopes and dreams.

Accepting where you are makes for a smoother ride along the road of life.
